As an extra will I be employed or self employed

Last updated 4 months ago

Up until 2014 when working as a Supporting Artiste (Extra) you were considered self-employed for tax but you were considered an employee of each production company for National Insurance purposes and self-employed for Tax purposes. This caused lots of confusion.

From April 2014, the law changed and you are now legally considered SELF-EMPLOYED for both Income Tax AND National Insurance.

You are never considered an employee of The Casting Collective.
